

This museum is dedicated to the life and journeys of the legendary Moroccan explorer Ibn Battouta, who was born in Tangier on February 24, 1304, and died 1377.He was the greatest medieval Muslim traveler and the author of one of the most famous travel books, the Rihlah (Travels).

His great work describes his extensive travels over 30 years covering some 75,000 miles (120,000 km) in trips to almost all of the Muslim countries from Africa, Europe to as far as China and Sumatra (now part of Indonesia). Through interactive exhibits, maps, and artifacts, visitors can trace Ibn Battouta’s routes and gain insight on his impact through global exploration.
