Marshan boasts a diverse architectural style and is one of the most fashionable areas of Tangier. Situated on a plateau above the casbah (Arabic for fortress), just outside the historic city walls, the neighborhood offers sweeping views of the sea, looking out over the Strait of Gibraltar, where only 14 kilometers separate the Maghreb coast from Spain.

From the west the neighborhood extends to encompass the grounds of Marshan Palace; Rue de la Kasbah and Rue d’Italie marks its eastern edges; the Ave Belgique and Ave Boukhari form its southern boundary; and the coastline defines its northern edge. You will find trendy spots like Marshan Park and Cafe, Hafa Cafe, and the Phonecian tombs.
