The Petit Socco is a charming square in the heart of the medina, intersected by Rue Es-Siaghine, home to the Dar Niaba Museum, and located near the Grand Mosque.
Before the establishment of the Tangier International Zone in 1923, this area housed many of the European consulates and major banks.
However, by the 1950s, it had gained notoriety as a crossroads for drug deals and prostitution.

Today, following the grand reopening of the Palais Zahia hotel in 2017, the Petit Socco has been revitalized with freshly painted facades and a lively atmosphere.
It’ s now a popular spot for tourists to relax, enjoy a mint tea, and take in the vibrant street life.
